Maria Villalobos
ABC News Producer
Maria Villalobos is a freelance producer out of San Diego, California, producing stories for TV shows such as Project Runway, America’s Most Wanted, Tyra Banks, Rachel Ray, ABC News and Good Morning America.
She was Co-Executive Producer of a cooking TV show in Spain, Jose: Made in Spain, which airs on PBS. Maria’s career began as an intern at KGTV Channel 10 in San Diego, and ended up as an on-air reporter. Television news was a natural career for this bilingual Mexican/American.
From being a local reporter at KGTV Ch, 10, she moved to Washington D.C and was an on-air Correspondent for FOX TV - America’s Most Wanted.
While working in Spain, Maria produced the cooking show Jose: Made in Spain, she traveled throughout the country highlighting the best restaurants and wineries with chef /host Jose Andres, who was recently featured on 60 Minutes for his cutting edge take on cooking.
“As a Producer/Reporter your phone rings and instantly you’re flying off to Costa Rica looking for a fugitive, or having sleepless nights producing live-shots for Good Morning America,” says Maria. This was the case recently when I have been asked to cover some of our nation’s horrific shootings, such Trader Joe’s in Los Angeles, The 2019 Walmart shooting that left 19 people dead in El Paso, Tx and the shooting in San Bernadino, CA.
It's not always sad work, recently Maria’s covered concerts, Comic-Con, The Oscars, and Super Bowls.
Maria attended San Diego State University and received a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication.
