Athletic Training and Education
Karen Hsu, a New Jersey native, is a dedicated professional in the fields of Athletic Training and education, with a passion for promoting health and fitness among students and athletes alike. She earned her Bachelor's in Science in Athletic Training from the University of Delaware, where she laid the foundation for her career in sports medicine.
Her career journey led her to gain valuable SEC experience at Auburn University, where she worked closely with Women's soccer and gymnastics teams. Transitioning to Professional Physical Therapy in New York, Karen honed her rehabilitation skills, working with athletes at both amateur and professional levels.
In 2017, Karen relocated to San Diego, where she assumed the role of Head Athletic Trainer at La Costa Canyon High School. She continued to excel in her profession, becoming the Head Athletic Trainer at OLP in 2018. Alongside her athletic training responsibilities, Karen ventured into education, joining the Health and Fitness department in 2020.
Driven by a commitment to education, Karen pursued and achieved a Master's in Education with a single-subject teaching credential in Physical Education at National University. Her teaching extends beyond the classroom; she shares her passion for wellness as a yoga instructor at Corepower Yoga several times a week.
Karen is known for her holistic approach to athletic training, striving to educate and treat each athlete to understand the mechanics of their bodies to optimize performance and prevent injuries. Outside of work, she embraces an active lifestyle, enjoying skiing, golfing, playing various sports, and spending quality time with her two beloved dogs. Her philosophy centers on encouraging students to explore diverse avenues of fitness and health, preparing them for both their current and future well-being.
