Judge Alana Robinson ‘88

Judge, San Diego Superior Court

Judge Alana Wong Robinson was sworn in as a San Diego Superior Court Judge after winning election in March 2020.  She presides over both civil and criminal matters in San Diego, California.  From 1990 to 2020, She was a federal prosecutor in San Diego, where she held many leadership roles, including Acting United States Attorney, First Assistant United States Attorney, Criminal Chief, and the Narcotics Enforcement Chief.  She prosecuted a wide variety of cases involving violent crime, organized crime, drug and human trafficking, money laundering, official corruption, and fraud.  She also taught ethics, complex investigations, and trial skills to federal prosecutors at the National Advocacy Center for over 15 years.  Judge Robinson began her legal career at the San Diego office of Baker & McKenzie, handling business litigation and bankruptcy cases.

Judge Robinson is a member of the California Asian Pacific American Judges Association (CAPAJA), the California Latino Judges Association (CLJA), the San Diego Latino Judges Association (SDLJA) and the California Judges Association (CJA).  She also serves on the Advisory Committee of Latinas in the Law. 

Judge Robinson graduated from UC Berkeley School of Law in 1988 and UCSD in 1985 with a Major in Political Science and a Minor in Spanish Literature.  She studied in Spain her junior year and is a fluent Spanish speaker. 

Judge Robinson is a proud alumna of the Academy of our Lady of Peace, class of 1981.  Her mother, Rachel Murguia Wong, graduated from OLP in 1956 as a boarding student.  Judge Robinson’s daughter, Kate Googins, graduated from OLP in 2010.  

Judge Robinson is an active member of the Immaculata Parish. She has enjoyed co-teaching Religious Education with her husband, serving as an usher, and as a lector.
